A Thriving Nation

Join This Course

Free, just and thriving nations are like fruitful trees. To flourish, they require the right conditions and the right soil. What are the conditions that give rise to such a nation? What are the foundational principles upon which such nations are built? This is what we must understand, for on it depends the future of our nations, our families and our very lives.

This series of 10 videos offers ideas in response to this question.

-----------------

In response to the “Arab Spring” in 2011, the DNA created a video series in Arabic to share Scripture-informed principles for building free and flourishing nations. Our desire was to prompt reflection and discussion.

These principles are universal and apply to the continued development and progress of every nation.

We believe God gives every person a measure of influence and the responsibility to contribute to the development of their nation--beginning with their family and community. Therefore, we’re pleased to share these videos with English subtitles and this online course with you.

May God give you wisdom to help your family, community, and nation develop and flourish as he intends.

Lessons

Lesson 1: An Opportunity for Developing a Thriving Nation

Revolutions may overthrow tyrants, but there is no guarantee that one tyrant is not replaced by someone or something worse. Free, just, compassionate and prosperous nations are built upon certain God ordained fundamental principles.

Lesson 2: The Rule of Law as King

It is not the king (or president, prime minister, or emperor) who is king, the law is king. Free, just, prosperous and compassionate nations are not ruled by men, but by the rule of law.

Lesson 3: Human Dignity

Each human being, male and female, is made by God, in his likeness; each person is unique and has equal intrinsic dignity and honor that is to be recognized and respected.

Lesson 4: God-Granted Rights

God has granted human beings with certain intrinsic rights as human beings. These human rights are not granted by, nor can they be taken away by, governments.

Lesson 5: God-Granted Ownership

People have a creation mandate. God has provided human kind all the resources they need to carry out the creation mandate. People have a right to own and steward their property whether it is internal or external to the individual.

Lesson 6: For and By the People

God, not humanity, is sovereign over the universe. Government exists for the good of the people, not the people for the government. A people is most free when people establish the government and the government is accountable to the people.

Lesson 7: Restraining Selfishness

"Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Lesson 8: The Family is Core

We have been made for relationships. The family is the basic building block of society.

Lesson 9: Work Ethic

For nations to flourish economically, the citizenry must understand and live out the work (or fruitfulness) ethic that God in his great and good design has purposed for each human being.

Lesson 10: Governing Oneself

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
